Moon Valley - San Juan Argentina
(Reader Contribution to
10 Fascinating Rock Formations)

It shares the international status of World Heritage, with the next Talampaya National Park in the province of La Rioja. It is located in northeastern San Juan Province, Department of Valle Fértil, 120 kilometers north of the city of San Agustin.
The former area of lush vegetation and water courses which show us the evidence of the formations and archaeological remains, has left the space today an arid region where the strange shapes carved by erosion of brick-red sandstone, green dotted with isolated blocks and browns, contrasting with thin monolithic columns and obelisks, curious, whimsical sculpted forms that erosion over millions of years, combined with ravines and gorges where streams are temporary. The spectacular landscape took place called as "Moon Valley".
