(Reader Contribution to 10 Most Unfortunate and Funny Car Names)Japanese car manufacturers aren't the best at translating the names for their automobiles. Hence the urban legend that the Mitsubishi Starion was supposed to be the Stallion, but it got lost in translation. A great example of the phenomenon known as Engrish. My personal favourite is the Toyota MR2. When pronounced as if one is speaking French, it comes out as 'Emerde' - embarrassingly close to the French word for shit! And, ironically, they are horribly prone to rust...
