(Reader Contribution to 15 Stupidest Warning Labels)Lottery tickets include a warning not to iron them because they are printed on special paper that is heat sensitive (thermal) - No ink is placed on the paper by the printer, only heat is applied, which causes a chemical reaction in the paper, producing dark areas - Essentially, if you iron a lottery ticket, it will turn black, and be useless. Primarily, the purpose of using thermal paper for lottery tickets is to make counterfeiting more difficult.
