I'm allergic to the cold

(Reader Contribution to 10 People with Unbelievable Medical Conditions)

I have the same symptoms as the girls with Aquagenic Urticaria, but mine is brought on by change in temperature.

I'm 44, and have had cold urticaria for about five years. My fingers sometimes swell to the point i can't bend them, and sometimes if i eat ice cream or have ice in a drink, my lips and tongue will swell up. Even standing by the window in my living room can set it off, or picking up cool cutlery from the kitchen drawer, using a mouse, etc.

I rarely leave the house nowadays.
