Pesticide Turned Sweetner (SPLENDA)

Sucralose is an artificial sweetner that was discovered during research on pesticides. A researcher was told to 'test' the sample, but misheard it as 'taste it' and discovered it had a sweet taste. Amazing, the wikipedia article has been changed from pesticide research to "...to use sucrose as a chemical intermediate in non-traditional areas..."
