Sidewinder - Namib Dunes

(Reader Contribution to 10 Most Amazing Snakes)

The Sidewinder (bitis peringuye) is endemic to the Namib Desert (Namibia), and burrows in the sand, with eyes placed on top of it's head, waits in ambush for lizards.
They often pick up the thin tip of their tails, to imitate a small stem of grass, ants are attracted by this, lizards come to eat the ants and often then caught by a sidewinder.
