Cauliflower, Hedgehog, or Chrysanthemum?

(Reader Contribution to 10 Most Amazing Mushrooms)

Found on a dead log in the deciduous woods of southwestern Virginia. It looks like a chrysanthemum to me, but I am no expert and its look alike in my Audubon Society guide, the Rooting Cauliflower, grows west of the Rockies. My mushroom hunting friend says it is a Bearded Tooth but it doesn't look like the Hericeum pictured above. No matter, it's edible.

A mushroom I found in my yard just before mowing it over in N. Texas. Never seen one like it.
