World's Smallest Horse
At 17.5 inches (44.5 cm) tall, tiny Thumbelina is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the World's Smallest Horse. The stout dwarf chestnut mare, weighing 58 pounds, was foaled May 1, 2001 at Goose Creek Farms miniature horse ranch in St. Louis, Missouri.Standing eye-to-eye with the farm s cocker spaniels, Thumbelina ambles under pasture fences, roaming the ranch and occasionally checking in to nap in her dog house, set among the stalls that quarter some of Goose Creek Farm's 47 miniature horses. A rarity among miniature horses, Thumbelina has conquered her life-threatening birth defect and will soon be bringing joy to children around the world while drawing attention to various worthwhile children's causes.
